Instaviz Features/Options?

1) RENAMING DOCUMENTS:

I find the current interface to rename a new document overly complex:

- going to the main screen
- turning on multi-selection for all docs
- tapping the name of the document to edit
- changing the name

Most apps will allow you to just (a) tap the the document name in the title area when the document is open, or (b) tap the name in the main document screen. Are there any chances this might be enabled?

2) DOCUMENT SYNCING

I know there is an option to manually export documents, but I work on my stuff between both my iPad and my iPhone (sometimes even my Macbook). Are there any plans to incorporate automatic syncing with iCloud or Dropbox? This also would give the added benefit of backups for the multitude of documents a person can create.

3) CHANGING NODE/DOCUMENT SETTING

Currently there is a nifty scroll function to go between labels, shapes, etc. But the scroll direction is opposite of all the other iPhone/iPad functionality. It feels unnatural to swipe to the right and have the options move to the left.

I agree as do many other users.

The tricky part is getting the UI correct. I'm not sure how to implement (b) without also taking care of the standard tap = navigate. One possibility one user raised was to swipe right on the item then have a "rename" option appear much like the "delete" option. Is this a familiar enough interaction?

(a) looks more promising although it may involve some hairy logic on my part.

I'd like to settle on one obvious way to do renaming, since multiple ways will just confuse people.

iCloud syncing of some description is on the cards. Keep your eyes peeled for a 2.2 beta!

It feels unnatural to swipe to the right and have the options move to the left.

It falls out naturally. If you tap on a scrub bar icon, the corresponding setting should appear, which means icons and settings are ordered the same horizontally. If there are ordered the same, then swiping rightwards on the icon will end up scrolling the settings left.

Consider the scrub bar an analog of the A-Z shortcuts in Contacts, scrubbing downwards to Z actually causes the screen to scroll "upwards" to Z. Apple has obscured the actual scrolling here, since they likely encountered the same confusion you're encountering. I would like to keep the scrolling because it gives the user obvious feedback when scrubbing the icon bar and also builds a mental model of where the settings in relation to each other.

Any suggestions how to improve this, other than removing the scrolling?
